Child Protection thus Joint Management of the Children’s Rehabilitation (Transit) Centres

NEMACY-Uganda reaches out and provides rescue and re-integration missions for young people who are at risk and or have been abused. Re-integration within communities is only done upon addressing concerns that sparked off the vulnerability or being at risk.  The Network operates a child helpline (+256 776 131414 / +256 754 131414) where children and adults are encouraged to call / beep and report cases of child abuse and neglect. Through the helpline, clients are counseled and guided on the necessary measures to take in case of any child related concern.

It also offers rehabilitation services to former street children, those  abandoned and abused in various ways e.g. defiled. This also involves counseling and provision of psychological healing to abused children. Children are rehabilitated for a period of at least three months and thereafter, partners do home tracing and eventually reintegrate them  with their parents — communities.

The transit facility in Jinja is accessible from Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm to the general public especially those ones interested in information about young people. The centre has a library equipped with legal documents, research reports and child protection literature.
